Rageous:
Personally I think the sooner Ive leaves Apple, the better chance they have of creating space for a new vision. He's far from the only capable person overseeing design at Apple - he just happens to be disproportionately revered and he really shouldn't.

Fake Tim Cook:
Saul Bass, Paul Rand, Dieter Rams, Frank Gehry, I.M. Pei, and Frank Lloyd Wright all had 40+ year careers. Many notable designers and architects work into their 70s and 80s. Frank Lloyd Wright worked right up to his death at 91.

Ive is 49 and has been at Apple for about 25 years. He is now working closely with Marc Newson and getting to explore new areas such as architecture, transportation and publishing. I think we will see another 25 years of his work at Apple.

> With everything I write here at DF, I aim for painstaking precision in my choice of words and phrasing.

Really? Because your frequent written mistakes and often vague and imprecise posts say otherwise.

> On a podcast, that’s not possible.

It is if you put some effort into what you're saying on the podcast, and don;t just turn up drunk and ramble.

Q*Bert:
> while Ive is devoting much of his time and attention to architecture recently (both for the new campus and Apple retail), every aspect of every new product remains as much under his watchful eye as ever.

Time is a finite quantity; if Ive is spending more time on things other than approving product designs (apparently _a lot_ more time), how can "as much under his watchful eye as ever" be possible?

Slurring Gruber:
Not sure about the writing words, but the slurring words were not exactly "painstakingly precise"

Have you checked out Apple's designs since Ive left a couple of years ago? Apple's designs are SHIT without Ive.

> When I first started seeing these “Gruber thinks Jony Ive is on his way out” stories, I was appalled. It felt like a punch to the gut, because it wasn’t what I meant to convey, and I realize how influential my word is in such regards.

Awesome -- John's take away is that he is even more influential and important than he previously thought.

God help us all.

The New World Order:
What I hate about Designed by Apple is that they have captions for the pictures - on a separate sheet in the back of the book.

And it's printed light grey on white. WTF kind of design is that?

When I get some spare time I'm going to slice the fucking insert up and tape the entries to their respective pages.

That's not human-centered design, that's subjugating end-users to the whim of a fucker who's lost touch with reality.

It's time to ship Ive off to the designer graveyard.

Grubhub:
If drunk Gruber had any real intel, he would know that Jony now lives in England and works remotely, which might temper his prediction. But hey, baseless speculation is his forte.

Wow, that's a big post from Gruber nowadays. I predict he's spending his ad money right now, and won't make another post >30 words until mid-2017.

What a fuckin' racket.

To Be Fair:
Gruber seems way too lazy to "pivot." He'll just keep doing the same half-assed job while the money keeps rolling in.

He also seems to hate podcasting, but he's unlikely to stop doing that while it remains so lucrative.
