To Be Fair:
>It says having fun and a life outside work is good.

... if you're a high-ranked executive.

The Real John Gruber:
I actually have it on authority that he took the tickets from the iCloud VP as punishment. Eddie took them right out of his pocket and said "well, you won't be needing THESE"

yeah, those poor fucks trying to fix it sure didn't have a life outside work.

Q*Bert:
He was so pissed about the outage, he took it out on Steph Curry.

John has definitely never had a job or position of any real responsibility, or even worked at a company where he could observe anyone else with any amount of leadership skill.

I'm going to add "management", and "how to run a company" to the list of things John should never write about (which also includes "finance" and "economics").

> Should Cue have been calling them every 15 minutes to see how it’s going?

No.

> Should he have made them feel small by screaming at them, telling them that they’re incompetent shitheads?

No.

> Should he have made them feel guilty by telling them that he was missing game one of the NBA Finals, because of this outage?

No.

Man John loves nothing more than a good strawman to argue with.

> Or, should he simply trust them, leave them alone and let them do their jobs — in which case, he might as well have just gone to the fucking game.

No. Is this really the entire universe of possibilities you can imagine?

Pathetic indeed.

Tony Soprano:
John Gruber is a fucking clown. What Eddy Cue did is the corporate equivalent of a military general deciding to attend a sporting event while his direct reports are busy engaging enemy forces in unexpected emergency combat operations.

Can the general's X.O. handle the emergency? Probably. Does that mean the general should sit it out and attend a basketball game? Absolutely not.

Again, Gruber is a fucking moron.

DB:
Unnecessary profanities, barrage of rhetorical questions, short staccato sentences.

It's clear Om struck a nerve with poor Gruber, and Gruber is feeling the need to get all defensive like a pre-schooler.

Real talk: forget about the management issues - would Gruber let FB, Dropbox, Google Photos etc.off so easily if their service was down for 6 hours?

What this action says (considering how Eddie is the face of this area of Apple - in other orgs without this form of celebrity ownership you could expect that a VP probably wouldn't be in-office for an outage) is "Sucks to be you, I'm a rich superstar and YOU'RE NOT."

> Are the engineers and system administrators who were responsible for fixing the outage delicate emotionally fragile children…

I don't see what having millennials on staff has to do with this.

Eddy Cue cares more about fucking basketball than about Apple's customers.

Everything this man runs is total fucking shit.

He ran App Store and it was shit until Schiller took it over.

I wish Apple would fire this bozo.

Yeah there was nothing wrong with going to the game, but he should still get canned, if only for that fucking dance he did on stage at the Apple Music demo.
