> HP’s visionary leadership in this acquisition brings to mind this gem from The Onion back in 2011: “New Apple CEO Tim Cook: ‘I’m Thinking Printers’”.

Does it, though? Does one printer business acquiring another really bring that to mind in any way?

It's hard to demonise Western companies behind intentional obfuscation of foreign market caps, revenue streams, etc.

Samsung, as noted above, is larger by revenue than Apple and has been for decades. Korea, where its revenue accounts for 20% of the GDP, won't allow it to fail.

Uh, Samsung also isn't failing. Also, it's not like "without Samsung there would literally be no iPhones" because until this year Samsung made nearly all the CPUs! Oh, and Samsung is going to supply iPhone ram again next year.

Anyway Samsung still makes money - not Apple money, but not nothing. And I'll let everyone in on a secret - Apple isn't making Apple money anymore!
