webOS & BB10 Forever:
Yes, Apple was a problem in 2008, but it appears Gruber was spot on only as to gaming apps. The real problem, as we all know, was the ecosystem. Google's Android emerged as the credible Windows (role reversal here) alternative to Apple, and BlackBerry placed all its hopes on a nice but raw BlackBerry 10 OS that was released way too late, coupled with Amazon's App Store, which was supposed to fuel sales of the Fire phone. Once that failed, so did BlackBerry. I think BlackBerry ought to license its wonderful physical keyboard tech to someone who can make a great phone design from it, like LG or Sony.
