Vanilla Dry Ice:
Well, then that's definitely a tradeoff most jackoff consumers are willing to make these days, isn't it?

What does it matter if my surveillance camera is helping to take down innocent companies as long as I can still get my live feed of my pet iguana sitting at home?

Sorry, no. HomeKit's security requirements are simply unnecessary and onerous, and, yeah, only really help Apple (which is not the same thing as security, incidentally). Security of the iOT needs to get better, but it won't be HomeKit; it'll be an open consortium with security BCPs.
