To Be Fair:
> Ergonomically, a horizontal (or nearly horizontal) display is not comfortable for touch.
Who the hell uses a laptop with the display horizontal? It normal to use it close to vertical.
> The Touch Bar is the answer to “These keyboard F-keys are cryptic and inflexible — what can we replace them with that’s better?” That’s an actual problem.
No it isn't.
Not having an escape key is an actual problem.

Cook & Apple killed MBP. They also killed Mac. Mac's basically dead at this point.

What will it take for Grubs to realize that Cook has to go?

I think it's worth a shot. The function key row always struck me as ridiculous on a modern PC. My main concern is whether the touch bar is going to be too fiddly and difficult to use quickly and reliably.

The Touch Bar is a shitty gimmick and doesn't make egonomic sense either.
Besides not having an escape key, they created a new problem wherein you have to look at a touch screen, instead of the main screen, to use it. In the demo, it took multiple taps just to adjust brightness and volume.
Both of those things can be done with muscle memory and instant interaction with the keyboard now. The design is a regression.

Why does Gruber keep doubling down on the "no touch on laptops" thing? I have a Lenovo PC and a Chromebook Pixel, both with excellent touchscreens, and find touch to be useful in certain situations (pinch-to-zoom especially).

Isn't the ipad pro a vertical display with touch? Adding a mouse pointer to iOS seems to make sense to me.

Because Apple hasn't done it yet. If/when they do, it will be the greatest thing ever.

Gruber knows that already but he can't speak his mind because of the retribution from Apple. His gravy train would stop immediately.
What's interesting is that he's been mocking Schiller on his podcast over "courage". I wonder if Schiller/Apple will give him some shit for that or maybe they don't even listen to his podcasts.

I had a whole bag of fucks to give about the new MBP, and I used them all up early—running out right before Phil announced the stupid fucking touch bar, the stupid fucking limit of 16GB on RAM, the stupid fucking limit to USB-C ports, and the stupid fucking price increase.
And for fuckssake, Grubnuts, it's macOS not MacOS.

Grubs gave up sweatin' the details...now he's just sweatin' the cheesesteaks and whiskey.
