Yes there is. Hillary Clinton's campaign arranged text vote. It's Donald Trump that likes to oppress the poor and people who cannot easily come to polling locations so you have to go there in person if you vote for Drumpf. But if you vote for Hillary, just text your vote.

anonymous, thank you for letting the millions of innocent female black Americans her at DFWC know the truth!!!!!

Anyway if you text HILLARY to that number, the response you get is:

> The ad you saw was not approved by iVisionMobile.com OR Hillary For America in any way.To opt-in to the real HFA list, text HFA to 47246. Reply STOP to cancel.

Not exactly a clear repudiation, but definitely not a THANKS FOR YOUR VOTE response, either.

It really wasn't awful at first, when it just organized played music. Beat the hell out of manually dragging files around in the Finder to organize them, which is mostly how it worked at the time. Just bloated with too much extra crap over too many years.
8:05 am — Tuesday, 8 November 2016
Hairy Lime:
I agree with Q*Bert. For a little while iTunes was better at ripping and editing ID3 tags than anything else out there. (Yes, technically there were more sophisticated ID3 tools, but they were a pain to use.)

I think iTunes lost it when it tried to be all things. It should really just be broken apart by task. Calendar and Contacts sync via iTunes, but they're kept as separate apps. In a similar way, apps has no purpose being in iTunes.

I know. But aren't we allowed to snark about what it became?

Right, so isn't that Apple's fault?

asshat was posting the "text to vote" bullshit that's going around, and someone removed it. i'm not sure why he was posting it here, it's not like anyone would see it.

Hans Gruber:
It's amazing to me how hard Gruber works to shit all over everything Microsoft.

Of course Gruber is the kind of numb nut dipshit who wastes hours of time and thousands of dollars on a font for his extremely overpriced and ever-so basic notes app that lacks the most important feature from the the beginning, syncing.

This esploded my head. I though DFWC was an uneditable blockchain of stupidity. Now I find out it has a moderator! Admittedly, a pretty f*cking lazy moderator, but still...

Of course I see now the Felony Clinton logo on this site.

That bastard-- he praised Obama, bitched about W's PATRIOT ACT and wars and TSA .l.. and then was silent when Obama made more wars, made the patriot act bigger and permanent and now has the TSA molesting children at airports.

Where's your regret, dicknose?

Zune software. It didn't fuck with your library, it just read what was in the folder and displayed it in a nice way. Artists on left, albums in center, tracks on right. It was glorious and I'm sad that it's dead.
7:37 pm — Tuesday, 8 November 2016
I'm with her:
I don't mind iTunes either. The iOS music UI is a piece of shit for anyone who doesn't use Apple Music. My 38k tracks have been stuffed into a ghetto labeled "Library."

What about the old Playlists, Artists, Albums UI? Gone, so Apple can try to sell me shit music that I don't want.

"Library Connect Radio Search"

I only use one of those, yet I can't populate the fucking nav bar with anything else. Bastards.

That has always been, and continues to be, optional in iTunes. There are preferences for whether it fucks or does not fuck with your library. Personally, I like the fucking so I use it, but you can still use iTunes in a more hands-off mode if you want to.

Still does not solve the bloating problem, but you can still use it in a simple way if you wish.

@Q*Bert:

Sadly you can't manage one copy of iTunes from another over the network, and even though iTunes can indeed leave your files alone, it needs a database to locate them. It only deals in tags, too, and not filenames. So the Zune software still had an advantage there.

Yeah, I like iTunes too. It's a nice abstraction for my enjoyment of my media. But it's still brain-damaged in certain fundamental ways that want sorting out.

Tim Cooked:
What????? Zune????? itunes is fucked and on top of that you want to plug Zune?
10:21 pm — Wednesday, 9 November 2016
Sebby:
The Zune software, Timmy-boy. It didn't fuck up your library and force you into a new world order, for absolutely no reason whatsoever aside from locking you in to Apple, and maybe aesthetics.
11:06 pm — Wednesday, 9 November 2016
Q*Bert:
OK, good point Sebby.
