Sound like Steve offered something increasingly rare in our public school: A real education.

The bureaucratic, centralized approach we've opted for denies teachers the flexibility to create rich but eccentric learning plans like this.

Have high standards for teachers and hold them to them, make them responsible for their student's learning and give them the freedom and respect to do their job.

I wish every student had the opportunity to take a computers class like the one Woz offered.

The story needs no comment or effort from John because Woz is a true gem.

Just linking to it shows the absolute brilliance of Gruber.

He might be a gem, but he's an asshole. I live in Los Gatos, where he lives, and see him walking his dog around Blossom Hill Park all the time.

He might have been a gem in his past life, but now he's an overweight, curmudgeony asshole.
