What UI invention? Not much made it into Vesper, that's for damn sure.

Gruber still hasn't covered the demise of Mac? Mac is now abandonware and Gruber is silent. Why?

elbowroom:
I've tried [the Bear app](http://www.bear-writer.com) and it's so much better done than Vesper it's remarkable. I'm still a user of Scrivener to organize my thoughts but newer apps like Bear and Ulysses show there is still a market for well-crafted text editors for organizing information.

I guess Vesper just didn't have enough of a niche and Gruber and Simmons made a big mistake of going far too minimalistic in features while spending too much efforts in UI that ultimately ended up not needed.

These idiots spent 3 years building a note taking app, and couldn't even find a way to leave it in the app store when finished?

Is this the first time Gruber has taken different parts of someone else's post and merged them into one? He missed the italics on "seen" too.

>it’s not even an example of how to write apps in 2013

Yeah, not shit.

If only there was anybody around to tell them that at the time.

Oh my god, can you imagine being an Objective C developer on the hook for satisfying this blowhard? Imagine the wasted days, nights, weeks implementing tweak after tweak, trying to make the perfect, custom animation and UI view that would make him feel like he was being listened to in his glory as a master of user experience.

"Historical artifact." "Art project." What a pretentious fucking twat. The Three Stooges that made this PoS really did suit each other pretty well.

I came here to say basically the same thing.

You forgot "one of the first Modernist apps", like they were ushering in a new, more civilized era.

MacGruber:
I generally like Gruber but he can be insufferably pretentious at times. Sounds like he and Brent Simmons were a good match judging by this ridiculous post.

Vesper was OK looking but pretty useless. It almost literally had no features. Art project? Jesus…

> in the end, it was one of the last apps of the era where it was not uncommon for developers to spend massive amounts of time in UI invention.

Suggested re-phrasing:

In the end, we were one of the last developers to realize it's not a good idea to spend massive amounts of time in "UI invention".

I commented here on how crappy that app was way back in 2013.

Really glad to be proven right. Wish gruber would understand why he is a douschbag.

What in the holy hell is "Modernist" about Vesper? I'm guessing these two knuckleheads know little or nothing about art history or theory.
