What a fucking terrible analogy. YouTube isn't making money either, and is engaged in its own acts of desparation, like YouTube Red. And YouTube is a component to the profit centers of Google's search adverising, so it's not comparable really at all.

Bwaaahaaahaaaa!

Nothing gets created on Twitter.

Twitter didn't help Trump get elected.

Speech helped Trump get elected.

Why do leftists hate freedom of speech?

Trump is barely capable of speech. It's likeminded idiots who got Trump elected.

Isn't it Trump who wants to limit Freedom of Speech?

>I can only surmise the reason why is that because they’re measuring “activity”, they see all activity as good activity.

Yeah right.

Must be the reason they banned Milo Yiannopoulos, a Trump fan who poked a monkey.

Twitter is only useful for checking on real time events like hurricanes or shootings. The rest is garbage from complete fuckwads like Gruber and Daniel Eran Dilger.

TBF, it's telling that you don't deny leftists are anti-freedom.

MyOptionalName, seems like you didn't read that Newsweek piece deeply. Irrelevant press complaining about their irrelevance. If they had spent the last 2 years engaging in journalism, they'd have a leg to stand on. But they didn't. And they don't. Real headline should have been: Donald Trump's Thread to Leftist Cultural Hegemony.

Twitter is an easy way for journalists to get "sources" so they can write what they want.

Now they don't even have to hire an expert.

"The left" supports freedom a hell of a lot more than "the right" does.

>f they had spent the last 2 years engaging in journalism, they'd have a leg to stand on.

Except, when they do actually engage in journalism that criticizes Trump, he complains about it on Twitter, and says it should be easier to sue them.

Except when it comes to free speech, free exercise of religion, freedom to defend oneself, freedom to own guns, freedom to run a business, freedom to control ones life, freedom to buy healthcare, freedom to pick doctors.

All the important.

Citation?

"Except, when they do actually engage in journalism that criticizes Trump, he complains about it on Twitter, and says it should be easier to sue them."

Where is this supposed journalism? DNC PR masquerading as news doesn't count.

Stroke! Stroke!:
Without the appropriate checks, both the Left and Right degenerate into authoritarian states.

The US was the first post-ideological state, which is why it's such a target. The stated goal of the US was to push a specific agenda: that people should be happy and free.

Neither today's Left or today's Right have that as any part of their agenda...although the Right is closer to that than the Left.

The fact is, the low voter participation rate shows that most citizens think the government is doing just fine. The fact that large swaths of the population don't care is a sign of our government's stability. We're not some shithole third world country where everyone's worried about the future and even the most pathetic voter matters.

We're well on our way to becoming just that.
