As Felix Salmon, writing for fake news site Fusion, defines it, 'diversity' is antithetical to core American values.
We have no greater enemy – not Islamic terror, income inequality, climate change – than progressive multiculturalism and identity politics.

So, the enemy of American values is American values?
1:31 am — Friday, 3 February 2017
Patrick Henry, the 2nd:
No, personal is only politics if you choose to make it so. Identity politics is the worst kind of politics.
MLK said he hoped to live in a world where people are not judged by the color of their skin. Identity politics is ALL about judging people by their looks.
GOOD politics doesn't care about race, gender, sex, or any of that. It only cares about doing right for all.
The left doesn't care about that, only about power for THEIR people. And that's why we have Trump.

To Be Fair:
>Identity politics is ALL about judging people by their looks.
Counterpoint: no it isn't.
>GOOD politics doesn't care about race, gender, sex, or any of that. It only cares about doing right for all.
How do you do right for all without caring about any of those things?
>The left doesn't care about that, only about power for THEIR people. And that's why we have Trump.
You really like saying things that aren't true, don't you?
2:11 am — Friday, 3 February 2017
Diversity really is the greatest enemy of American democracy and American culture. It is also the biggest enemy of American companies.
When a company, such as Apple, prioritizes diversity over intelligence and skills, the company ends up being destroyed from within.
Just today, a beacon of diversity in Silicon Valley, Mozilla Corporation (makers of Firefox browser, started laying off 50 people.
Gitlab, another Silicon Valley diversity champion, committed seppuku when one of its diverse developers deleted their production database and all of their backups failed.
2:57 am — Friday, 3 February 2017
TBF, that you can't tell the difference between American values and the antithesis to American values is... not at all surprising.
What IS surprising is that you don't even understand your own cultural Marxism, as evidenced by your inability to understand or respond to Patrick Henry the 2nd's comments.
3:05 am — Friday, 3 February 2017
"Today, the personal is political; identity politics is politics."
No. No no no no no.
The personal seems political and identity politics seem like real politics only to those drinking the proverbial kool-aid, served up by those who think they've found a way to secure and hold power.
Even the regressive left should be able to see through this divide and conquer smokescreen.
3:28 am — Friday, 3 February 2017
"GOOD politics doesn't care about race, gender, sex, or any of that. It only cares about doing right for all."
It's not just that good politics doesn't care about these things – good politics is impossible once they become the focus.
People begin voting their race or sexuality or gender. The delicate social cohesion necessary for a complex democracy breaks down.
4:00 am — Friday, 3 February 2017
> black trans woman, or a Muslim trans man
always with the weird progressive slack hypothetical oppression choices
6:40 am — Friday, 3 February 2017
Identity politics builds walls rather than knocking them down.
It's not peace-seeking but conflict-seeking.
It prioritises in-group identity over everything else.
It demonises all groups outside of it.
It polices thought and seeks to shame and punish those who might question its scared beliefs.
Identity politics is just old fashioned tribalism in a new cloak.
Tribalism is the worst of the human condition. It is our collective original sin.
10:06 am — Friday, 3 February 2017
Bathroom bill much, repubtards?
Small government in your bedroom, morons?
Invasive policies by perv conservatives planted the seeds of where we are today. Own it, snowflakes.
12:20 pm — Friday, 3 February 2017
The core issue is that you kind of NEED diversity to grow. And some americans cant get hold of that concept.
Monocultures do not have the answer to long term success, both biologically and mentally. Diversity of genes, diversity of culture, diversity of thought creates long term success.
That is why America is the most powerful country in the world. Diversity is at its core.
White people can try to have diversity and the "whip hand" as they did in 50's america or Australia and South Africa, but it never lasts. The oppressed always get you in the end. It really is up to you guys. Go back to the 50's and spend your lives looking over your shoulder (just like Israel does now) or embrace the future...
12:56 pm — Friday, 3 February 2017
Worst thing about society right now: Identity politics.
Worst thing about Daring Fireball right now: The Grubster's obsession with left wing politics.
Worst thing about DFwC right now: To Be Fair
2:45 pm — Friday, 3 February 2017
Shake it around:
The main problem with identity politics is that it becomes impossible to discuss anything because at that point you're attacking their identity, not their ideas.
It's difficult to have a discussion if the other side is all twitchy about being insulted, disrespected, etc.
That's pretty much the state of the Left today: a bunch of people who need safe spaces and trigger warnings.
The smartest thing the fifth column did is subvert the American left with corrosive ideas like this. It's pretty impressive how destructive certain ideas can be.
It's like rust, eating way at the foundations of a civilization.
3:24 pm — Friday, 3 February 2017
Shake it around:
You know, if you look a the history of the modern world, it was pretty much white civilizations that brought it. No other group of civilizations even considered that the individual was worth anything.
So when push comes to shove, fuck all the other civilizations. They sucked. Only majority-white places have even attempted to make life better for the common person.
I mean, just look at that fucked up caste system in India; what a great way to enslave generations of people and enforce their servitude.
3:28 pm — Friday, 3 February 2017
Shake it around
let me switch that for you:
"I mean, just look at the fucked up apartheid system in South Africa"
"I mean, just look at the fucked up treatment of Aboriginal peopel in Australia"
I could go on and on looking at this "better for the common person" thing .. but it only seems to benefit white people.
I cant even think of any point in history where anything has been better for people other than white's when white people have been in charge. Seriously, name a great time for black people in america historically? That's why the make America great again feels like a cruel joke. Was the 50's better for non white people? When black women were maids for white people? Or the many lynchings.. etc.. etc..
4:22 pm — Friday, 3 February 2017
Getting rid of Apartheid is viewed in the USA as a big success. But if you look at what a shithole South Africa has become, I think we can all agree black rule there (or anywhere) was a big mistake.
4:50 pm — Friday, 3 February 2017
"That is why America is the most powerful country in the world. Diversity is at its core."
Could not be further from the truth.
America is the most powerful country in the world because it combined limited decentralized government, strong protections of private property and free markets. Immigration worked when it assimilation and integration were expectations and immigrants were not coddled.
You are creating a country that cannot function as a democracy, and are entirely blind to the dysfunction you are creating.
'Diversity' is toxic.
10:46 pm — Friday, 3 February 2017
identity politics wouldn't be necessary if everyone were treated equally. they're obviously not. you can still be fired in many states just for being gay, and that's legal. not trump is making it legal for businesses to refuse service to anyone who they feel compromises their religious beliefs.
guess what, my actual needs take precedence over your imaginary god.
so anyway, politics will never do what's right for everyone as long as everyone is not treated the same.
12:46 am — Saturday, 4 February 2017
Shake it around:
@anon People refuse to be treated the same.
That's not to say white people can't crush other groups; they do so quite efficiently. I'm saying that white civilizations are, by any standard, "the best."
1:29 am — Saturday, 4 February 2017
So what if a business wants to refuse service to anyone who compromises their religious beliefs?
Their conscience and liberty take precedence over your wants.
Is it a douchey thing to do? Yes. Would I take my custom elsewhere if I knew a business declined service to gay people? Yes. Does anyone have a right to the labor of the business owner? No.
Identity politics has nothing to do with treating everyone equally.
1:33 am — Saturday, 4 February 2017
Are 'white civilizations' the best? The left is doing a damn good job driving western civilization into the mud.
1:34 am — Saturday, 4 February 2017
There's been a lot of garbage coming across Daring Fireball lately, but this has got to take the cake.
Let's take the premise of the title literally: A newsroom may be impartial, or it may be diverse. So, if you favor impartiality, you better only hire people of one ethnicity, gender, etc., claims Mr. Salmon (I hope I didn't misgender you). Wow, now that's some bigotry!
>[T]he media has finally picked up trans stories, but the nature of the debate is over whether or not we should be allowed to live and participate in society, use public facilities and expect not to be harassed, fired or even killed.
Really? Who in the media is having the debate, "Should transgendered people expect to be killed?" I'm guessing no one.
Who's debating whether trans people should get to use public facilities? Again, no one. To the extent there is a debate, it's whether they should use the men's room or women's room, not whether they get to pee at all.
There's enough problems in the world that we don't have to make up ones that don't even exist.
Lewis, the trans person in question, was fired not for being trans, but for violating Marketplace's code of ethics. That code of ethics applies to anyone working for Marketplace, be they man, woman, or [miscellaneous](http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0773647/quotes?item=qt0545736). You're a journalist who confesses you don't think you need to be objective? Don't be shocked when you get fired.
You want to be a journalist who doesn't care about objectivity? There's plenty of outlets who will hire you. Lewis's phone is probably ringing off the hook from Salon, Slate, Vox, and HuffPo.
Meanwhile, I'm sure anyone who is straight, gay, bi, trans, cis, otherkin, what have you, is free to apply to APM. Just be prepared to report objectively. You absolutely can be impartial and diverse. Just leave your social justice wars out of it.
8:25 pm — Saturday, 4 February 2017
""That is why America is the most powerful country in the world. Diversity is at its core."
Could not be further from the truth.
America is a country of immigrants. Where the white section have managed to convince themselves that they are a homogenous majority yet derive historically from all over the world. How is that not diverse?
Most white americans are originally immigrants from Europe etc.. The issue is that white america has shunned assmilation from immigrants that are brown. It is that simple. Whether it be slavery or asians etc.. There has been a hesitance of white people to allow brown people to join "the club."
Ultimately, America is historically diverse as fuck. Just look at everybodys surnames out there!
