Google employees working on a Google project downloading files from Google servers related to that project.

This is hardly a smoking gun.

I have no desire to blindly defend Uber, but Gruber's whisky-soaked crusade is as shallow, biased and unhinged as any of his others (Google, Samsung, Trump, etc).

Surely Gruber is the kind of bullshit most people mean when they talk about the easy spread of fake news.

Someone needs to make "Gruber Bingo"

Squares could be things like:

Positive Google Story (Unicorn square)
Negative Google Story
Negative Uber Story
Positive Apple Story
Negative Trump Story
Link to The Verge
Link to Bloomberg
Link to Sixcolors
....

I'm out of ideas.

Merkela Gruber:
>Read between the lines on this one

There is nothing to read "between the lines." Lawsuit filings are allegations, not a record of factual evidence. And because of this reality, they are very frequently complete and utter fabrications.

So the jury is out on what, if anything, Uber was "caught" doing.

uber legal:
if uber wins, they could then sue gruber for saying they got caught red-handed, which would be libellous.

and unlikely.

If Gruber were a good writer he'd maybe mention the ever controversial nature of software patents and "inside secrets".

Or link this to the other big litigation going on between Facebook's Oculus and Zenimax, which is to any observer, just a naked financial ploy without real merit.

Or something.

As much as I think JG is a fucking idiot douchebag who is ALWAYS full of shit, this is no Zenimax. This is 100% legit, Uber was caught, they are guilty, and they'll need to pay up. But that's it - like everything else illegal aka "disrupting" that Uber does, they don't ask for permission, they just pay for forgiveness when caught. Uber is guilty AF and the only question is how much will it cost - to me there is literally no question they are guilty.

Donuts? For Dinner?:
This is instapunditry at its worth.

I mean, the Gruber thought John Oliver's spiel on "corporations as people" was high literature instead of the morass of crap that it actually was.

That said, occasionally Gruber is right. I can't think of anything since the election where he was right, but I'm sure there was he was right some time in the past.
