But HTML5 was *not* better or faster than Flash for years and years and years. It was a mess for a long time.

Gruber the booger:
>But HTML5 was not better or faster than Flash for years and years and years. It was a mess for a long time
Exactly. Well said.
>Almost every device could play Flash content. Many devices could not render HTML5 content
Uhhh no. This is just wrong on all accounts.
>because they were junky PCs running Internet Explorer.
Good job Grubnuts. Take a swipe at Microsoft and Explorer. I'm not defending either but Gruber is again making a terrible case for his argument here.
HTML5 wasn't a standard until years after the iPhone came out and was inevitable regardless of Apple.
Gruber is revising history, ignoring facts, and taking pot shots.
>The iPad is poised to increase that number.
How are those iPad sales numbers going? Declining year over year?
Keep in mind Steve Jobs didn't even want native Apps initially. Everything was supposed to be "web apps".
Apple stumbled into the App Store begrudgingly. And then they made a mint on what should have been there day one.
I expect more from Gruber's commentary. He could not be more obtuse and wrong here.
Gruber goes back 7 years digging up garbage to prove his point and still comes out smelling like a bag of dogshit.
