Seems more like an attempt to preserve some of the tanking stock price by the management, signalling to the public there could still be some extra money rain coming to Imagination's way.

I wonder if it'll be all Apple IP or something that builds upon someone else's such as ARM's Mali. Imagination probably does have a point that one couldn't avoid a lawsuit starting from the scratch.

Additional context not in the article is that Apple looked at acquiring them, but instead poached a bunch of their guys to take it in-house. No wonder they are pissed.

If it turns out those guys took IP with them, then it's similar to the google-uber LIDAR shit going on now which Gruber is all over.
