Trump fans in the *DF with Nazis* comments: get fucked.

I am astounded by the media's ruse about the realities on the ground in Syria. All the Syrian rebel resistance is made up of Islamist militant groups from al nusra, al qaeda, and ISIS.

The media will dance around this fact, as if supporting the Syrian state is not the best of the worst options out there.

Is it Saudi and Qatari funded thinktanks and money influencing the narratives? The realities are so clear to anyone even casually paying attention, yet there is this concerted, dishonest dance from every newspaper and cable news site

Boot's article is an incoherent mess – much like all of Boot's writing. Is he being purposefully glib and misleading? Or does he conflate his work with actual discourse?

We already work constructively with France and Germany, despite the destructive course Merkel has set Europe upon. We need to be able to do the same with Russia.

Can you imagine Jimmy Carter colluding with the CIA and FBI to throw the election in 1980? If he had tried, perhaps Reagan would have been a bit more pointed when speaking of his predecessor.

Boot (and Grubs) only reveal that Trump's Warsaw speech was as accurate as it was blistering: we are in a crisis of confidence; freedom is a byproduct of western culture; the greatest dangers from those who seek to subvert and destroy it come from within.

Boy, that escalated quickly. I mean that really got out hand fast.

@ano - agreed. The collective and willful ignorance of reality in the media is astounding.

Back to the article:

>And to give up his seat at the G-20 meeting to his daughter Ivanka, as if he were presiding over a hereditary monarchy like Saudi Arabia.

Then later in the article:

>But coming from Trump, with his long history of Mexican- and Muslim-bashing,

So which is it Max Boot?

You can't have it both ways. Max Boot slips a dig in at the Saudi's and then a few paragraphs later slights Trump for trying to keep out the bad Muslims.

Moving on, as far as legacy and passing the torch goes, why does he not mention the Bush's, or the Clinton's?

I bet that Ivanka will be America's first woman president. Definitely won't be Hillary.

This is yet another opinion hit piece. I don't like Trump, but this article smells.

Yes, she was terrible. So people got behind someone who is 10x more terrible. Trump and his entire family are dirty as fuck. What's worse? They are too STUPID to know how dirty they are. It takes a special kind of stupid to not only acknowledge meeting with Russians who promised dirt on the opposition, but also publicly post copies of the emails confirming it happened. Yeah, this is Trump Jr. we're talking about here, but don't expect me to believe Trump Sr. isn't up to his neck in this shit too. Not with how he's been cozying up to Putin.

Except it does. It's illegal to solicit such aid from a foreign power, or accept it if offered. Period. The emails are completely unambiguous about what was being dangled and the interest in it. Whether or not they received any such aid is irrelevant. What's really hilarious is that it appears they didn't actually get anything on Clinton from the Russians, which makes me think the Trumps were being played the whole time. So not only did these fools inadvertently give the Russians leverage on themselves, but mini-Trump outed himself and Manafort by publishing those emails.

Please don't insult "the left" by confusing them with the centre-right neoliberal ideologues. Thank you.

As to America's oh-so-benevolent influence in Europe, also now drifting further toward the right, under influence of both neolib and ultra-nationalist forces, all I can say is, thank you, Trumptards. And btw, intent is the same as doing the crime. Thats why you can be caught by entrapment in drugs cases or attempted murders. If there is clear intent your done for. I cant see how Trump jr's email is not clear intent to obtain this information. Had she had gotten information on Hilary from this Russian source would he have said "no thank you"?

What I find interesting is that Trump has had so many terrible things about his presidency that nothing really moves the needle anymore. Even this!

America is a fantastic place to live. Like many countries, including Germany.

If America and Germany weren't fantastic then why do so many people want to move there from other countries?

It's hardly absurd. Since Podesta first floated the Russian connection the day after the election, my own congressman, Adam Schiff, has talked of little else. He is no longer a functioning member of Congress, but an expensively-suited flat-earther. There's little chance he'll be primaried by an equally-liberal but more-focused Democrat, but I can dream. "If the rest of world thinks the US is so crazy, then stay the fuck out and stop moving here."

To be fair. When I'm in the US you don't (well at least NY,LA and Miami) you dont notice anything bad unless you watch the news.

So I kind of think that the whole Trump thing is just being played out in the media and in congress but hasn't really effected many people directly yet. Their lives are the same as they always were, in fact, even better since the economy has picked up.

It's just that we all know that all these polices, issues, blah blah are eventually going to hit everyone at some point. Whatever cuts he's putting in now, will trickle down and change the future for america and the rest of the world.

It's just surreal that he seems to be making a mockery of a political system that americans over centuries have sort so hard to protect. And of feels like half the country just doesnt care about that.

Unfortunately you might be quite correct. When shit literally starts to crumble, it's bad news.

>And of feels like half the country just doesnt care about that.

Again, unfortunately you might be spot on.

America seems like it is more divided than ever, especially if you watch the news.

But, I travel a fair amount around the country and internationally and to me it's a pretty great place.

The pendulum swings back and forth. If Trump actually lasts four years, the poor decisions he's making now won't have time to set in and will be reversed by the next person.

Thanks for the reasonable exchange, you have a good and fair take on things.
