So why didn't the same thing happen to the backup?

The frantic damage control by Apple seems far more damning than the actual demo fail.

Oh, thank goodness! Apple Engineering says it wasn't engineering's fault -- we can all rest easy now guys! We know for a fact it can't just be spin now!

Think about that for a second. Now try to apply that to Touch ID.

Here's a simple scenario to help: I pass around my iPhone with a message on the lock screen to friend at a table. The first time I do this someone brushes their finger on Touch ID to many times and now I need to input the password to continue. Another time is fine when it's handed back because that didn't happen.

Surely you understand that Face ID locking isn't a new concept for Apple so it was probably one person that wasn't as careful as they should be before it got back to Craig. This is difficult stuff.

Yeah, it's so difficult for the few employees who would have contact with these phones to be instructed not to try to unlock them. Super hard.

Skeptic:
given that you can awaken the screen just by touching it, I can see where this is coming from. But still, why not backup as well, and why didn't Apple plan this better?

>It was probably the white glove folks who clean every demo unit to perfection after the final rehearsal.

Why are they white gloves? That's glovecist!

Juanita - You're fired!

Also was it "cleaned to perfection"?

Sure seems like it was cleaned to "demo fail" in this case.

>Whites Only Clean To Perfection.
