I think it's more than just making a smaller version. That might be an issue in terms of cost, but not the biggest problem for vendors. I think the biggest issue is the number of female buyers other tech companies would have. They simply don't have the numbers. Well, Fitbit does and maybe that transition that into more of a smartwatch market, but others have always focused on younger males for obvious reasons.
