I can't anymore. Your site used to be great. Your podcasts used to be great. As a brother to someone in law enforcement who is respected and loved by his community, and who just lost one of our own who puts themselves out there for us everyday… I can't take this disrespect. Fuck you John Gruber. Fuck. You. http://buffalonews.com/2017/10/17/missing-buffalo-police-divers-body-recovered/

How surprising that the American people have a problem watching black athletes shitting all over the flag. They need to read this Apple blog so that they understand that's its really very respectful.
8:04 pm — Tuesday, 17 October 2017
Patrick Henry, the 2nd:
I agree with Gruber, kneeling isn't disrespectful, but I do understand the argument of those who think it is.

Regardless, if the point is to raise awareness about police brutality (which isn't actually a race issue), and all we talk about is the method of protest, is the protect actually effective?

No its fucking not. How about these players actually do something about the people who have been impacted, instead of doing worthless gestures like kneeling.
8:25 pm — Tuesday, 17 October 2017
cop to it:
Kneeling during the anthem is disrespecting law enforcement? These black athletes are disrespecting the flag? What!? Are you willfully ignorant, or do you just believe everything that comes out of Trump's lying mouth?

The athletes are very forthcoming and open about their patriotism, their love of the flag and the anthem, their support of law enforcement, and their opposition to unarmed black Americans being killed by police.

They have a right to protest, and they're doing so respectfully, in spite of your opinion. Likewise, you have the right to woefully misinterpret their protest, and twist it into something it isn't in order to vilify even more black people.
8:26 pm — Tuesday, 17 October 2017
cop and a half:
The athletes are protesting police brutality. It is embarrassing that those in law enforcement (and government) are trying to put themselves on the other side of this issue, because it makes them look like they SUPPORT police brutality, which is insane, and makes them look like a bunch of dimwitted idiots and/or racists. That's why they need to make themselves (and gullible others) believe these protests are about something else, like flag-hatred or anthem disrespect. Ridiculous. Gruber is right.

CP:
Cops killed nearly twice as many whites as blacks
The majority of these victims had a gun or were armed or otherwise threatening the officer with potentially lethal force.

More whites and Hispanics die from police homicides than blacks. 12 percent of white and Hispanic homicide deaths were due to police officers, while only four percent of black homicide deaths were the result of police officers.

Some may argue that these statistics are evidence of racist treatment toward blacks, since whites consist of 62 percent of the population and blacks make up 13 percent of the population

Statistics reveal that blacks were charged with 62 percent of robberies, 57 percent of murders and 45 percent of assaults in the 75 biggest counties in the country, despite only comprising roughly 15 percent of the population in these counties.

Such a concentration of criminal violence in minority communities means that officers will be disproportionately confronting armed and often resisting suspects in those communities, raising officers’ own risk of using lethal force

Blacks commit 75 percent of all shootings, 70 percent of all robberies, and 66 percent of all violent crime" in New York City, even though they consist of 23 percent of the city's population.

The black violent crime rate would actually predict that more than 26 percent of police victims would be black. Officer use of force will occur where the police interact most often with violent criminals, armed suspects, and those resisting arrest, and that is in black neighborhoods.

Data does show that unarmed black men are more likely to die by the gun of a cop than an unarmed white man...but this does not tell the whole story. In August 2015, the ratio was seven-to-one of unarmed black men dying from police gunshots compared to unarmed white men; the ratio was six-to-one by the end of 2015. The “unarmed” label is literally accurate, but it frequently fails to convey highly-charged policing situations. In a number of cases, if the victim ended up being unarmed, it was certainly not for lack of trying. At least five black victims had reportedly tried to grab the officer’s gun, or had been beating the cop with his own equipment. Some were shot from an accidental discharge triggered by their own assault on the officer. Individuals included in unarmed victims category were struck by stray bullets aimed at someone else in justified cop shootings. If the victims were not the intended targets, then racism could have played no role in their deaths.

In one of those unintended cases, an undercover cop from the New York Police Department was conducting a gun sting in Mount Vernon, just north of New York City. One of the gun traffickers jumped into the cop’s car, stuck a pistol to his head, grabbed $2,400 and fled. The officer gave chase and opened fire after the thief again pointed his gun at him. Two of the officer’s bullets accidentally hit a 61-year-old bystander, killing him. That older man happened to be black, but his race had nothing to do with his tragic death. In the other collateral damage case, Virginia Beach, Virginia, officers approached a car parked at a convenience store that had a homicide suspect in the passenger seat. The suspect opened fire, sending a bullet through an officer’s shirt. The cops returned fire, killing their assailant as well as a woman in the driver’s seat. That woman entered the database without qualification as an “unarmed black victim” of police fire. Another instance in 2015 where three officers were killed with their own guns, which the suspects had wrestled from them.

Black and Hispanic police officers are more likely to fire a gun at blacks than white officers. This is according to a Department of Justice report in 2015 about the Philadelphia Police Department, and is further confirmed that by a study conducted University of Pennsylvania criminologist Greg Ridgeway in 2015 that determined black cops were 3.3 times more likely to fire a gun than other cops at a crime scene.

Blacks are more likely to kill cops than be killed by cops. This is according to FBI data, which also found that 40 percent of cop killers are black. A police officer is 18.5 times more likely to be killed by a black than a cop killing an unarmed black person.

Despite the facts, the anti-police rhetoric of Black Lives Matter and their leftist sympathizers have resulted in the "Ferguson Effect," as murders have spiked by 17 percent among the 50 biggest cities in the U.S. as a result of cops being more reluctant to police neighborhoods out of fear of being labeled as racists. Additionally, there have been over twice as many cops victimized by fatal shootings in the first three months of 2016.

Anti-police rhetoric has deadly consequences.

Hm, it couldn't be that we have a systemic issue where poor people of color aren't given a fair shake at life and end up committing crimes because they have no money, no job prospects, they're uneducated and they've been beat down (often times literally) for generations. Nah, it's just that black people inherently commit more crimes.

Where's the outrage about that dumb fuck NFL fan sitting on a flag? Total disrespect for the flag, bro!

It's more patriotic to bring attention to problems with our society than it is to say "Rah Rah America, you're great! (again). Now go give each other CTE for my entertainment!"

Goddamn, the poor everywhere get fucked. Have you seen the poor around the world?

I mean, Jesus Christ on a stick. Hey, how about:

* don't run from the fucking police
* don't commit crimes
* be polite, don't be an asshole
* don't point a fucking toy gun at a real cop

You know, it's not that hard to not get your ass shot. Millions of people manage to not get shot every day. What kind of fucking moron decides to mouth off to or run from a cop?

Answer: one who wants to get today's Darwin Award.

America: land of the whining pussies and home of the snowflakes.

Seriously, liberalism is a boil that needs to be lanced. No wonder Stalin and Mao killed all the Liberals; they corrupt the society from the inside.

the fact that people think this whole thing is about disrespecting the flag just proves that trump's misdirection has worked. he completely reframed the issue into something that 'patriotic americans' would see as distasteful, and they'd rally around him. or more likely, stephen miller thought this whole thing up.

The academy

I mean, Jesus Christ on a stick. Hey, how about:

don't run from the fucking police

Who was running?
Was Gardner running when he got choked to death by about 8 NYPD officers all on video?

Was the dude who's car had broken down running from cops or just asking for help and was described as a scary big guy and subsequently shot for just being big and black?

I mean, this shit is getting ridiculous now. People posting statistics like it justifies this shit. FUCK YOU.

Put it this way, as a white guy (I assume most of you guys are white) you know a majority of sexual assaults in any situation are done by men on women.

So how would you like it if you were arrested, questioned, attacked every time you went somewhere because you were automatically accused of sexual abuse even if you have absoutely nothing to do with that shit?

Every time, just because you are a white male who looks to some like a sexual deviant you are actually treated like a sexual deviant. Every fucking where.

Thats what racial prejudice is. You skin colour, your very appearance, nothing to do with actually you as a person is getting you into alteractions where you have to fear for your life. Where the odds of you getting through a standard police stop are seriously fucked up depending on the mind of the officer and your skin colour.

How fucked up is that?
Thats what these NFL guy are trying to highlight. AND IT HAS WORKED. because your all talking about it, cos your precious game of football is suddenly being sidelined so that YOU have to deal with this issue. And your pissed off because YOU HAVE LOST CONTROL of the narrative. After all that is what protest is meant to do. To disrupt normal service and bring light to an issue.

And all it has proved to black people up and down the country and in the world is that a lot of white americans really dont give a fuck about the lives of black people. And you know what, I'm glad thats out there. So we can all stop pretending now and deal with reality.

@knowitall

Yes. Yes. Yes.

I can't believe anyone has the audacity to take umbradge at pro-athletes goddamn kneeling to highlight literal daily killing of black people by public servants.

As for 'respecting the flag', how about making sure that the flag represents something worth respecting? 'cause when you slap it on the shoulders of a police force and military which kill, maim and terrorise as much as the U.S. institutions do then it's tough to argue that it symbolises anything worth your respect.

These football players are such roll models.

Some of those who participated in the protest have been arrested for a variety of crimes, including:

Jacksonville Jaguars defensive end Dante Fowler, for battery and assault in two separate incidents in July 2017 and March 2016, respectively
Baltimore Ravens outside linebacker Terrell Suggs, for aggravated assault in March 2003 and leaving the scene of an accident and driving with a suspended license in March 2016
New Orleans Saints running back Adrian Peterson, for injury to a child in Sept. 2014
Kansas City Chiefs tight end Demetrius Harris, for felony marijuana possession in March 2017
Pittsburgh Steelers running back Le'Veon Bell, for marijuana possession in Aug. 2014
Buffalo Bills defensive tackle Marcell Dareus, for felony drug possession and reckless endangerment behind the wheel in two separate incidents in May 2014
Seattle Seahawks practice quarterback Trevone Boykin, for marijuana possession and violating probation in March 2017 and April 2017, respectively
Baltimore Ravens former linebacker Ray Lewis, for murder in Jan. 2000; he ultimately testified in the case and received one year of probation and a $250,000 fine from the NFL
New Orleans Saints defensive end Alex Okafor, for evading arrest and running from the scene after police tried to detain him in March 2015
Tennessee Titans outside linebacker Derrick Morgan, for speeding and driving with a suspended license in June 2010
Pittsburgh Steelers cornerback Artie Burns, for driving with a suspended license in June 2017
Denver Broncos outside linebacker Von Miller, for failure to appear in court on previous traffic charges, including careless driving and driving without a license, in Aug. 2013 and cited for driving with a suspended license in Sept. 2013
