There was nothing wrong with it. Just like there was nothing wrong with them introducing @mentions and #hastags as official features.
What was especially funny this time was the people whining the loudest about 280 chars were the ones who most regularly screenshot walls of text. That's multiple levels of dumb.
And despite my progressive leanings, it was cringeworthy reading all the people saying 280 chars wouldn't cure Nazism on Twitter, etc. Why one is related to the other boggles the mind.
